2 Mello – Streets of Resistance

2 Mello – Streets of Resistance

As with most Mello mash up albums, there is always that theme or through line. Basically, 2 Mello's mash up albums sound like fully realized albums, and not just a collection of mashups he just bundled up and shipped out. It's just one part of why 2 Mello is the man.

Streets of Resistance has a vibe as if the story is being told by all the 'criminals' living in… oh, the city doesn't have a name. Well, crime is a complex thing, you can't get rid of it by just beating it up. Even if you have a bad ass soundtrack while doing it.

A loving tribute to Pokemon with 'PokéMemories Vol.02' by Pokérus

A loving tribute to Pokemon with 'PokéMemories Vol.02' by Pokérus

Another heartfelt tribute to the infectious and nostalgic themes of the Pokemon series. No one does tributes the best selling Nintendo RPG quite like Pokerus. Clearly, from the name, you can tell Pokerus' music is quite intertwined with Pokemon. As such the attention and style of this album is quite impressive, and a great listen for Pokemon fans of any generation.

Chiptune & Drum megamix, '3-9B' by c&sstockreports

Chiptune & Drum megamix, '3-9B' by c&sstockreports

These c&s stock reports are my favorite thing these days.

As if Shawn Phase himself were to say, 'Hey geno, want to hear half an hour of classic game soundtracks along with some murderous drumwork and esoteric intro's that sometimes sound more like an in ring promo than an album opening.'

That is a world we live in, right now thanks to shawn phase and his long running series of c&s stock reports.

Theophany returns to Termina in 'Time's End II: Majora's Mask Remixed'

Theophany returns with a sequel to one of his most popular albums. Time's End II rearranges ten more memorable themes from the Nintendo 64 classic Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. It's been nearly four years since the original Time's End was released, and folks like I are still more than excited for more remixes from perhaps the most misunderstood game in the Zelda franchise.

Time’s End II is the follow up to Theophany’s original remix album of Majora’s Mask, released in 2012. Building on the apocalyptic themes of Majora’s Mask, the new album explores Link’s journey through Woodfall and the southern swamps of Termina. The first album focused on Link’s struggle during the 3-day cycle while Disc 2 builds toward the first major turning of the game. It harkens back to the players’ feelings of hope as Link discovers a way to stop the moon from falling. This free album is a tribute to Majora’s Mask and a thank you to fans who have patiently supported Theophany since the release of Disc 1.

Listen to Trigun inspired hip hop track Planet Gunsmoke ft. Toad the Newsense by An Hobbes

The anime inspired bonus cut from 2012 hip hop space opera Diaries of a Space Cadet by An Hobbes. I'm a big fan of Trigun, and this track inspired by it.

Tracked presents creepy chiptune compilation Fright Club

So I think I should start considering November the real October. Considering it takes me a minute to hear an album and give the thumbs up that is this post. And considering everyone drops their Halloween album in the latter half of October. I'm still playing catch up.

I crashed into this particular compilation of creepy chiptunes via Masikus, who is featured on the compilation with his shiver inducing track The Babadook. Assumedly based on the movie, which I have not seen, but the track is damn creepy.

There are eight other tracks from folks that I am hearing for the first time. The chiptune mashup remix Never Gonna Bust a Thrill by Pain Perdu is a wonderful dance mix of chiptunes. Zanitlla creates a chaotic mix of gothic electronics in the stand out track Queen of the Zombos. All the tracks have a particular flair, and will make a perfect mix at your next creepy chiptune Halloween party, in 2017, because this album was released on Halloween night. So that is why you are hearing about it in mid November.

Good evening boils and ghouls and welcome to the first installment of the Fright Club! This collection of nightmarish waveforms, both originals and remixes, was chillingly crafted by some of your favorite creatures just in time for Halloween. So if you have an insatiable taste for haunted hymns, you’ve come to the right place.

Vibrant old school remixes & mashups by Shag in 'Negative Visualization'

This is one of my foray's off the beaten track of VGM, but I'll allow it if the artist has proven his penchant for videogame based music in the past. Shag certainly proved that with aforementioned albums Flyrule and Flyrule: A Terrible Fate, and appearing on the classic Marcus & Rome album Rated 'D' For Dope. Basically this man's nerd credentials are unimpeachable. His beats are incredible too.

There are so many good vibes, clever mixes, and an overall nostalgia inducing vibe thanks to the mellow beats and old school vocals. This is the perfect album to welcome the cool weather up here in the northern hemisphere. The vibes emanating from tracks like Nothin' Changed and Thought U Knew.

Listen to Emrls' Rest Theme (Remix) from Final Fantasy VII, 'Jamming Rockets'

New music by Emrls, this time it's a remix of classic music from the oft talked about game Final Fantasy VII. The track is Jamming Rockets, and is a remix of the Rest Theme from the FFVII soundtrack. Still looking forward to that next EmrlsCommunity album as well.

Song Title: Jamming Rockets
Produced by Emrls
Mastered by Dj CUTMAN - @DjCUTMAN

There’s no resting in these Inn’s. Bards, Dancers, even Songstress’ all come out to party when there’s a party to be had! “Inn The Night” is my latest concept album that rearranges Inn themes infamous to the Final Fantasy series.

DJ J-Ball's 'A Glitch In The Sonic EP' club music tribute to 16-bit Sonic The Hedgehog

Download this thing. DJ J-Ball and Sonic in some crazy mixed up and mashed up Sonic grooves, beats. All that stuff. It get's pretty intense.

What happens when the entire Sonic The Hedgehog soundtrack somehow fuses together. DJ J-Ball tries to answer this question with this 5 track EP featuring 10 tracks from the Sonic The Hedgehog soundtracks (mainly Sonic The Hedgehog 1-3 and Sonic And Knuckles).

Listen to Voodoo Lion's haunting hip hop remix of Pokemon's Lavender Town theme

Short but haunting hip hop remix of the melancholy music of Lavender Town from the original Pokemon games for the Nintendo Game Boy. Voodoo Lion lays it down ice cold in the most disturbing way possible.

Experimentation, the latest collection of beats, flips, and remixes by BeatmakerKelz

Another wonderful album of BeatmakerKelz beats and flips. BmK always takes things in a weird direction, in the best possible way. I'm lucky so many great gaming themes enter his remixing crosshairs or else I would have never heard any of these dope beats. Besides tackling games like Banjo Kazooie and a strange but wonderful fusion of hip hop and Yoshi, we also get remixes of assorted movies and pop music hits. It's well worth a listen to hear the clever flips and experimental remixes.

Listen to a chiptune remix of battle music from Mother 3

Keep the beat

I said more MRsonic699 was coming, and here it is. A remix of the wonderful Mother 3 soundtrack originally composed by Shogo Sakai. So how about that Mother 3 release? I need the full set on my Wii U, Nintendo!

Quickie cover of the Back Beat Battle song from the fantastic game Mother 3. It’s not legitimate, goes over technical limitations, more of an experiment. :v
