B-Type forms band, releases nerdcore rock rap album Galactic Dinosaur Patrol

b-type-nerdcore-hip-hop-galactic-dinosaur-patrol

B-Type has transformed, much like the mighty Megazord, into a being stronger than any of them could be separately. They use that power to release an EP length collection of the group's most eclectic tunes.

Tracks like "Party Robot" and "Only Godzilla Can Judge Me" endear themselves to me for obvious reasons. Though tracks like "Bibble Bibble Brain" and "Human Girls" grew on me quickly as well due to some catchy hooks. All the songs on this album move at a snappy pace, giving this collection of songs a great pop rock album feel to it.

I really wish I could see what these folks could do live, since these songs seem specially built to rock the crowd.

B-Type - Words album release

So in all my inane ramblings that pop up around the internet, I have neglected you, my loyal readership. For that I apologize, and give you this as a gift. It's the latest album from good friend and better rapper, B-Type. Worded Words, and released for free or best offer over at his official bandcamp page.

There are songs about Godzilla, robots, and Pokemon. If you gave me this album when I was twelve, I would have thought this was the greatest series of songs ever. Well I am a bit older than ten now, but strangely, I still spend a lot of time thinking about Godzilla, robots, and Pokemon. Which means this album is still awesome. Right now.

As for the beats, It feels like you are trapped inside a giant eighties era arcade machine, the cabinet's demo droning catchy riffs with an abundance of bass. There's a good mix of original and remixed tunes, giving the album less restraint. B's lines maneuver through a variety of styles over those tracks, showing off a growing versatility in his rhyming arsenal.

To get a feel for the album, I would have to suggest Top Percentage, with the track's swaggering beat, and Pokemon themed rhymes. Don't listen to him about not evolving your Pokemon though. My reasoning for this can be saved for a very lengthy article on the topic some other day. Just remember to evolve ALL your Pokemon.

The other song I recommend is the nerd heavy Song of Time, although, skip over to the end of the album and check out the latter version, Song of Time (Projekt Zero Pre-Emptive Remix). Though both good tracks, with plenty of great bars from a who's who kind of list of nerdcore. Unfortunately, the original track suffers from having heard this song remixed too many times (Final Fantasy Syndrome I call it). Besides, the best version of Song of Time is already this one. Perhaps this is why ProjektZero, which I am sure he will explain later, chose to remix it into a lo-fi dungeon crawling epic.

So go grab a copy, and give it a listen, and if the economy has been good to you, perhaps shoot him change for a cup of coffee. Unless...you don't accept my apology that is...

GM4A Records presents B-Type - Sneaks album

I am very excited to announce an album which is a bit of an appetizer, to get you ready for the main course, but this is a great appetizer none the less. Halloween Hip Hop: In Transylvania by Neally and DJ Dig Dug & Rhyme Torrents Halloween v4

Not content to do just one song, nerdcore duo Neally and DJ Dig Dug saw fit to make an entire Halloween EP. In Transylvania is that EP, containing six songs full of scary samples, awesome raps, and rocking beats. I Now Say kicks things off featuring the requisite tribute to Dracula filled with ridiculous lyrics and classic vampire clips. Warped sounds bring us into Soda Pop Rocks, which, as the title indicates, has to do with the horrors of drinking Soda with Pop Rocks. The winding lo-fi tune works great for this short and clever tune. Definitely a stand out track on this EP.

The third track, Autumn Moon takes another twist, opening with some haunting vocals, setting up the werewolf fueled premise of this song. The song then switches to a rapping style, and does a great job making sure the switch offs between the somber singing and more in your face rapping run together very well. The music side of the song is on the simple side, using mostly drums and synths, but interspercing it with howls and haunting violins to great effect. This brings us to my favorite track on the album, My Zombie Girlfriend (featuring Lakeside). Starting out with a soft rocking guitar, drums, vocals combo, the song then shifts to an electronic chorus which continues to hold in the harder rocking second verse. The song itself is a surprisingly love filled track about a man and his girlfriend. Zombies as a metaphor for whatever else people want to inject in it's place is a well known movie idea. Neally and DJ Dig Dug along with female vocalist Lakeside use this idea to their advantage to create a nerdy romantic song that keeps from easily treading into cliche territory.

The album steps back into the more ridiculous with Nymphomancer. With a chorus of "I'm a level ninety-nine mother fuckin' nymphomancer / Before you ask your questions I can give you all the answers." the song plays up the angle of the necromancing playboy. The album comes to an end with the title track In Transylvania which gives a hard rocking hip hop historical tour of Dracula's home town. The song build and builds, spiraling into a rauckus track, which peters out at the very and brings the EP to a close.

This album has been getting quite a few plays in my iTunes lately and I very much suggest you check it out. You can download the album free at Neally and DJ Dig Dug's website neallydjdigdug.com.

That's not it for the Halloween festivities though, We also have...

For the fourth Halloween in a row the Rhymetorrents community has saw fit to combine their nerdy with all things evil and supernatural and bring us Rhyme Torrents Halloween v4, which is of course free to download. The compilation features some great new tracks from some of the RT communities best, and about everything from zombies and vampires, to horror novels, and yes, survival horror video games.

Once there you might also notice that RT has gone over one big redesign, so why not use this as a great opportunity to sign up and be part of the liveliest nerdcore hip hop community on the web!

Well that and more is what you have to look forward to in less then a month down in Orlando, Florida! Hope to be meeting some of you fine folks there!

PART A:
You are in for another action packed show! Once again we had to chop this sucker into halves so all the awesome can go down easier! First one on your plate is Letters VS Numbers episode 014a: "Endless Possibilities" This week, not only is Chibi Ma hanging out alongside MisterB and I once again, but we also have a second guest in the form of Shinobi Onibocho from nerdcore duo Krondor Krew! We have ninjas, we have mages, and we have all the music and banter you know and love!

PART B:
We are back with part b, which is simply known as Letters VS Numbers episode 014b: "Fire Breathing Octopus". Why? You just have to listen to find out. Beyond the aforementioned sea creatures we also have Shinobi and Chibi Ma for the second half of course. We also discuss more Final Fantasy, funeral dressers, hookers, and more! Not to mention our ever popular beef section. Who are we beefing with this week? FIND OUT!

Letters VS Numbers episode 013a: "The Lifestream Made Me Do It" and episode 013b: "And Running and Running and Running"

PART A: MisterB is back! I REPEAT, MisterB is back! And to celebrate we have an enormous insane epic podcast if there ever was one. In fact it is so epic that it is two parts long! Part 1 is Letters VS Numbers episode 013a: "The Lifestream Made Me Do It". Not only do we have all the ruckus that is MisterB, but we also have plenty of bonus ruckus brought to us by special guest host Ma (who also writes for Game Music 4 All by the way). I like to think we are in full form and then some with this podcast. It has been far too long and we are glad to be back, I hope you are too!

PART B: We are ready for round 2, better known as Letters VS Numbers episode 013b: "And Running and Running and Running". If you were saddened by the abrupt ending of the last podcast you can take relief that part b of episode 13 is up now! This is the second half of the return of MisterB. Not to mention more shenanigans from Ma and I. The suspense from part a is now at a fevered pitch, and we return you to the podcast with no further interruptions!

Superpowerless - Wasting My Time music video

So I have just been informed that the new music video from GM4A's longtime pals over at Superpowerless is all set to be shown on MTV on March 23, but Luckily they have thought of me (and also Z.) for a bit of exclusive pre-release fun. The video is for the Superpowerless track Wasting My Time, which is the winner of the recent MTV/Vodaphone Fast Track competition. The video was created by director Luc Janin, and the newer version of the song you are hearing in the video was produced and mastered by Andy Chatterley.

The video itself of course stars Oliver Hindle AKA Superpowerless, as well as my podcasting companion MisterB, who also moonlights as Superpowerless' band mate during live gigs. Watch the video below and definitely send your love Superpowerless' way for getting so much attention lately, as he definitely deserves it!

Letters VS Numbers episode 012: "Science is Mischievous"

The beginning of a new year and we are still doing things the same way, with a late podcast. This one is entitled Letters VS Numbers episode 012: "Science is Mischievous". And it most certainly is! This week we talk about every manner of things, including Street Fighter, caffeine naps, scientific research, and even Christmas seeing how this podcast was recorded last month! It has been a while and we hope this gives you a good LvN fix to kick off the new year!

Also, as stated in the show, check out this footage from Z. of Hipster, Please! of LvN live! youtube.com/watch?v=-BD3x-tP5go Make it go all youtube viral and all that good stuff!

Oh! Also should mention we have banners for you to help support the show here lettersvsnumbers.blogspot.com/2008/04/banners.html

Listener Emails
We have a very special email this week from one awesome fan, and also one sort of confusing spam email this week. We enjoyed one of them! Be sure to send in any emails you have to lettersvsnumberspodcast AT gmail DOT com so we can read them on air!

Letters VS Numbers episode 011: "They Were Exclusives at the Time"

It is episode 11! It really truly is. It is entitled Letters VS Numbers episode 011: "They Were Exclusives at the Time" and does have some exclusives! And some things that were exclusives. Also some that were never exclusives.

Anyway, this episode is your basic episode, nothing special here, just good old fashioned LvN Podcasting from your two favorite people who host LvN. Plenty of new music from a ton of fantastic artists. Not to mention bantering about new album releases, upcoming concerts, spitting, and how dreamy AlpineKat is. Sit back and enjoy!

Listener Emails
This week we have only a handful of letters. One from Brian from the sadly defunct 8BitRevenge. As well as actual fan email, from people who aren't artists!

To listen in (and for full track listings and info) be sure to head over to http://lettersvsnumbers.blogspot.com/ Or subscribe to our RSS feed, or subscribe through iTunes.

Letters VS Numbers episode 010: "All About Us"

Welcome to our most legitimate episode yet! Letters VS Numbers episode 010: "All About Us" is that episode. With this show we are in the double digits and to celebrate, this episode is all about the bands and artists MisterB and I have been most influenced by in the VGM and Nerdcore world. We decided to choose the artists who were the first to open up new genres and musical territory for us, and they span pretty much all genres of nerdy music. If we played you in this episode, our hats off to you sir, as we love you and our lives are forever changed because of your musicianship!

Also, you may or may not have noticed (depending on where you are reading this) that we have a redesign and new logo to celebrate this monumental event of ten episodes! If you haven't check out our site at lettersvsnumbers.blogspot.com to check out the awesome new redesign courtesy of Girlz Melon, as well as the amazing new logo thanks to Steffo of My Parent's Favorite Music. Hope you enjoy, and be sure to grab a new banner from the site or myspace, as we should have some up soon!

Listener Emails
This week we had a handful of interesting letters from the likes of Bootyrage Samurai of Stunt Junkies, probably our biggest and possibly craziest emailer. Also more emails from Evamis, and Thugmasta J of Magitek fame. Be sure to send in any emails you have to lettersvsnumberspodcast AT gmail DOT com so we can read them on air, or as mentioned in the podcast, you can record your question and email it to us in MP3 format!

Letters VS Numbers episode 009: "Gathers Momentum Like an Angry Snowball"

Our entire podcasting career is a road fraught with technical difficulties. I apologize for the lateness of our newest podcast, Letters VS Numbers episode 009: "Gathers Momentum Like an Angry Snowball". This episode is extra lengthy to make up for it, so just pretend it is two episodes? This episode covers a ton of ground, trying to make up for lost time since Nerdapalooza. We are a little rusty but still unabashedly entertaining of course!

After two episodes of Nerdapalooza craziness, with guests, partying and what have you, it's back to the regular grind of sitting at home in front of a computer half a world apart and discussing the nerdy nonsense that binds us all together. We also start mad beef, and set a new record for listener emails! So hit play and enjoy this episode. Did you miss us? Because we certainly missed you.

Listener Emails
This week we have a ton of letters from the likes of Sangriaa of Vagina Deep in Podcast, Evamis, Mallory, Whoremoans, Thugmasta J of Magitek, and Bootyrage Samurai of the Stunt Junkies. That is a lot, huh? Be sure to send in any emails you have to lettersvsnumberspodcast AT gmail DOT com so we can read them on air!

Letters VS Numbers episode 008: "Alphabet Vomit Show"

If you thought MisterB was drunk in episode 7, then you are about to witness something else in Letters VS Numbers episode 008: "Alphabet Vomit Show". This episode was recorded the night of July 4th, or was it the morning of July 5th? Well it was after the first night of Nerdapalooza, I'm sure of that! We once again found ourselves at the Emergency Pizza Party house for another epic afterparty.

This time we have even more special guests, more insanity, and of course, more awesome music from Nerdapalooza Southeast artists and more! I don't even know how to describe this show to be honest. It's just a bunch of nerds talking about nonsense, but isn't that always the way with this podcast? Well it's basically that times a hundred this time, as cranking up the amount of nerds has changed the insanity of the podcast exponentially.

Basically, just listen to this one.

(PS. pssst, we also got MC Frontalot on this podcast, oh shit!)

To listen in (and for full track listings and info) be sure to head over to http://lettersvsnumbers.blogspot.com/ Or subscribe to our RSS feed, or subscribe through through iTunes.

Letters VS Numbers episode 007: "Together Again for the First Time"

Oh man! We haven't gotten a podcast to you in nearly a month. Well I assure you this one more than makes up for it! Enjoy Letters VS Numbers episode 007: "Together Again for the First Time" Which is the first of two Nerdapalooza specials! As you may know, July 4th and 5th saw a huge gathering of nerdcore known as Nerdapalooza Southeast. 300 nerdy music lovers descended on Orlando, Florida to party, rock out, and, of course, act incredibly nerdy.

As you may also know, MisterB is from the UK (you know, the accent and everything). And I reside in California, so hanging out isn't something we oft have the chance to do, BUT, thanks to Nerdapalooza, we hung out for the first time ever, in history! This meant that, come hell or high water, we would do a podcast together. This is the first of two podcasts we actually did, in person. We recorded at the now famed Emergency Pizza Party house, within MC Wreckshin's former closet, now turned recording room. This specific recording took place at the afterparty for the Nerdapalooza Pre-Show thrown by A Comic Shop on 07/03/08.

Since it was an afterparty, people are a little drunk, pretty tired, and very excited for the first day of Nerdapalooza which was less then twelve hours from this recording. We forgo with the regular duties of emails, news, etc. Mostly because we had no real internet access out there, but also to make room for more Nerdapalooza mayhem, and this is a lengthier than normal episode, but there were many monumentous occasions to celebrate, and we hope you indulge us! Enjoy!
