This is quite easy to do, now that the MAGFest crew has announced a few of the many bands that will be performing at the upcoming festival. Groups include newcomers The X Hunters, and personal favorites Bit Brigade. Not to mention the return of amazing bands Metroid Metal, Entertainment System, and Rare Candy. On top of that, there will even be DJs cutting things up VG style with DJ Cutman and DJ AWESOME so you can dance it off all night long.

This is just the first of many upcoming announcements for MAGFest, so keep checking their site for the latest news, and I will see you there in January!

The Megas / Entertainment System - MEGATAINMENT dual EP release

Talk about highly anticipated releases. This time we have an incredible fusion of VG superpowers, with Los Angeles based musicians The Megas joining forces with baltimore based rockers Entertainment System. When their powers combine we get the sheer destructive force known as Megatainment. The album is also known as Megatainment in fact, and is available right now via The Megas online store in both digital and limited edition pressed forms. Both will run you $5, with the pressed copy running you a small S&H fee as well. For those who like to try before you buy why don't you take a gamble for once? you can check out the opening track Elecman at The Megas facebook. Needless to say this is an amazing album from both groups and I will be throwing down a lengthy review soon for this release! For now though you might be wondering how such a fusion came together, so I leave you with The Megas explaining the album creation from their point of view.

The idea was born this time last year, when we embarked on the first Megatainment tour - basically they kept hassling us about not planning to do the MM1 soundtrack, so we said "write and record all the music and we'll do vocals..." and that's exactly what happened!

We're really excited about how this turned out - Entertainment System brings a different, heavier sound than what we play, so it was a fun challenge to come up with melodies and lyrics! Story-wise, this fits in as a nice prequel to Get Equipped.

A few things to discuss in the VGM world today. Our site has a new alliance in Push Start, a band very local to us. They will be providing us with help in a few needed aspects. They were also recently interviewed on Game Music Radio and their interview as well as their songs will be airing all through the first half of July so be sure to tune in! Also our friends in Entertainment System are featured along with many other great artists in this weeks VGDJ podcast, which is reporting from 8 bit Genocide. In more 8 Bit Genocide news, 8-bit Artist may still have some paintings left over from the show to sell off, so check that out. One more thing, I updated the links page as well today.

NEWS / DONATIONS

First and foremost. Yes, the myspace page is no longer up. Apparently it was erased one day when i had gotten home. I’m going to have to start working out of my personal myspace profile... which I loathe to do, but so such things go. Good news too, we’ve got some new tour dates up. A new interview with Entertainment System as well.
I figure it’s high time I explained the “donate” button over on the left. Well so far everything has come out of our own pockets to get this site up and running. We aren’t exactly made of money either. So any donations, no matter how small, are very appreciated, to cover the cost of servers, domain name, etc. As we grow and we start getting a healthy cash flow from this site, we plan on being able to give out gifts based on donation sizes, giveaways and things of that nature. We’ve put a lot of effort into this site so far. and plan on giving it even more of our time over the summer months. Please, spread the word.
