Mode 7 pays tribute to every Wario Land and WarioWare game from the original DMG-01 to the Game Boy Advance. From Super Mario Land 2 debuting in 1992, all the way to WarioWare Twisted from 2005. That’s over ten years of Wario! Take a rap tour through the land of handheld Wario with Mode 7.

Mode 7 is back and more grizzled than ever with this Banjo Kazooie tribute album! Gold Country is 23 tracks of Banjo Kazooie raps, remixes, beats, bars, and bears! Oh my!

This album is a tribute to the fans that have recently discovered the game, along with those long time lovers of the bird and bear, who remember getting the game all the way back in 1998. The album is also Mode 7’s way of looking back on his first year of live performances, along with a look at what the future holds!

From classics like the Banjo Kazooie Main Theme, and Click Clock Woods to more obscure tracks like Bad Magic Bayou from Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge, or the Golden Feather theme from Banjo-Pilot, Mode 7 mixes it all together into one cohesive album from the perspective of a rapping bear straight out of the backwoods of California!

Nine video game remixes, all involving the number 7 in some way. It had to be done, and Mode 7 had to do it. The results are stunning. From Mega Man 7, to Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars, all the way to The 7th Saga, a few World 7’s, and definitely the theme of Seven Force from the niche classic Gunstar Heroes.

Mode 7 returns, on top of beats from classic chiptune artist Twilight Division. Combined we get some chip hop based backpack rap all about Mode 7’s dive into the ocean of hip hop making.

Announcing another EP from Mode 7! The first release not based on any game franchise, the chip hop EP, Dream Master. Mode 7 gets introspective on these rhymes, over classic beats produced by the mysterious Twilight Division. Dream Master is available for pre-order and the first track, Submerged, is available to stream and download right now via Bandcamp!

The first EP by Mode 7. SQUAD is a six track collection of hip hop tracks, set in the world of UN Squadron. Mode 7 becomes the main character of UN Squadron and lays down six tracks about the life of a mercenary jet pilot.

Mikel Dale has recently wrapped up a collection of medleys, dedicated to some of his favorite games and themes. Arranged by Mikel Dale, and performed by a large range of talented musicians and artists.

Long lasting series like Super Smash Bros, Legend of Zelda, and Animal Crossing all get medleys covering the many titles in those series.

Another metal tribute for October thanks to SindraVania Projects. This time in honor of the lesser known Game Boy Castlevania adventures. You got plenty of the major players here when it comes to shredding, Mega Beardo, ThePlasmas, Snappleman (ft. Norg & Sixto Sounds), and even a Yes, Mayhem! appearance!

Pyralid has composed a mood shifting collection of music to set the mood in indie game Lumini. From soothing, atmospheric sounds to intense, heart pounding beats, the Lumini Original Soundtrack goes to many places. Still the album maintains an overarching, adventurous style. It’s a game soundtrack basically, and quite a good one.

Meteo Xavier returns with Saturn Icarus. Originally composed for a game that is currently vaporware, Meteo Xavier instead resurrected and repurposed as this all new original album. Filled with some intense Cyber noir 80s action vibes, this album will get you pumped for your next boss fight.

GameChops dropping some classic remixes. Watch out for that Ecruteak City remix. I need more Ecruteak City remixes in my life. Other classics like DKC, Animal Crossing, Sonic, etc. Real classics.

I heard of this album because I was tagged on Twitter. Not even @'ed. Just tagged. Don't matter though. Get me your album somehow. Doesn't have to be a classy PR letter. Just make sure I know about it. So without much more info than that though, this didn't exactly shoot to the top of my must listen list. During a shuffle through the latest albums I've got here, the Track “Abyss” popped up. It starts off slow, but then BAM, once it really kicked off,  I had to stop what I was doing, writing an earlier episode of this, and say, 'what the H is this?” The H it's Linanni Vaanija. Grab the album for ten euro, and you should. 

Wreckfest, the latest from hip hop group Wreck the System, has quickly grown on me. Wreck the System have really brought it for this full album tribute to con culture. I've been to a con or two in my life. I've also got bad social anxiety so that's all the cons I've been to in my life. That's why I'm a fan of the track Culture Shock. Look for me to be bumping more of these tunes over on the SUBCON podcast as well.

So I was all set to post about “Johto Legends (Music from "Pokémon Gold and Silver") by Braxton Burks” but when I went to his bandcamp page to get the requisite album info, he had already released another album. Curious, I said to myself. And, oh man, oh wow. Burks has five albums, all of various length, and all in tribute to the music of Pokemon. Each of these five albums has been released THIS YEAR. All back in the month of January.

Dual Core has done it all in their musical lifespan, but it has been a while since the duo of C64 and Int 80 have dropped an album. Five years since 2012's All The Things, and I for one am very glad Dual Core is back with Downtime. I'll talk more about it on an episode of SUBCON. They are world renowned though. Don't need me to sell them.

I've been a fan of ThePlasmas for years, ever since GM4A first started out. The best possible context to talk about ThePlasmas has also come up with the release of the nearly two dozen track tribute to Castlevania known as Holy Whiplash Plus. It's very difficult to go with just one track to share, but will go with Black Night for this go. I hope this is far from the last time I'll be covering classic Castlevania music. Headbang to this for a minute.

Definitely digging Schematist's electronic soundtrack here. Very eclectic style to accomodate all the areas this Metroidvania style Mega Man might encompass. Find this album on Schematist's bandcamp page, and download at any price.

JDWasabi's instrument choices give the Dragon Fin Soup Soundtrack a warm, inviting mood. Makes me nostalgic for a game I haven't even seen game footage of.
