Talk about a wonderful surprise of an album. If there is a game series I love for it's infectious, upbeat arrangements, it's definitely the Kirby games. Tekkaxe channels his inner Jun Ishikawa & Hirokazu Ando along with a touch of super hero lore, and uses that power to create an adventurous and eclectic album. Too bad this isn't a video game, now I'm a little bummed. This album will cheer me right up though, so I'm going to listen again!
I talk about hacking the SNES Classic, general hacking anxiety, and then get hyped for Super Mario Odyssey. On the hip hop side, I've got the latest from the Earthbound Rejects, the very first Duosis ReCut by JH Sounds to be featured on SUBCON, not to mention the latest from The Grammar Club, courtesy of Shael Riley himself. Plenty of instrumentals this week as well, including FrivolousShara, DJ BlazeWave, MarcusCross, beek, Sean Schafianski, and Coda. Then we close the show with a very special Super Famicom game.
It took me a minute, but I've finally gotten this Swych album into my rotation. Thanks to rediscovering this album, along with the latest from Swych, dude has become one of my main emcees of 2017. Don't make the same mistake I did, and bump this immediately!
2 Mello is back with the follow up to his original follow up to an album of eclectic but laid back hip hop beats. For the late nighters among us, and those suffering from a long, hot day, midnight broadcasts is for you. Plus you can learn how to make some proper mixed drinks.
I'm glad indie games exist. Not just for their great game content, but for the fact that it has let such a vast array of musicians to contribute to all these games. So it goes with the new indie game Greedy Guns. Blipperactive has composed some intense dance beats that build up and then shake your eardrums for a minute. Current favorite track for me is Thief, and I bump some Mother Roll on the SUBCON podcast as well.
