Emrls drops a genre spanning synth tribute to the original twelve fighters from Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo 64. Ten tracks in tribute to the ten franchises represented in the original SSB. No melee here folks. Although the classic status of the game doesn't stop Emrls from skipping the time stream and remixing music from modern day games such as Yoshi's Woolly World and Mother 3 alongside classic niche OSTs like Kirby's Block Ball.

When I discovered this album I couldn't even decide what I wanted to hear first. That SMB3 opener is on point, as I have already discussed. So that immediately caught my eye. Then I saw a remix of the relatively hot and new game Yoshi's Woolly World. Emrls lays out the audio equivalent of a bouncehouse, creating an upbeat mood throughout Splunked. Eventually I slapped myself together and became entranced by the infectious synth F-Zero medley, appropriately titled Mode 7.  Then there is this absolutely murderous jazz funk remix of Star Fox. This track makes Fox McCloud my favorite Smash character all over again.

Then theres  the hauntingly laid back tribute to Mother 3, Phlox Garden, which fuses some rough synths and light hearted tones into an entrancing beat. Emrls closes things out with the perfect summer tune, a laid back rendition of music from The Legend of Zelda Windwaker, which flows as gently as the wind itself.
