Torrentz
on the 5th November 2009 (Bonfire Night) Torrentz made their first songfight entry with “Welcome Home Frank” which, although it didn’t win, did inspire a series of subsequent entries to the weekly music competition that has been the launch pad for a number of Nerdcore artists (Most notably MC Frontalot.)
The concept behind this Nerdcore Hip Hop Collective was born (unsurprisingly) on the community boards of Rhymetorrents.org and although it does have a couple of core MC/Producers in Milk-Plus & Fatback Supreme the crew is designed to be all inclusive and ever expanding. It has been descibed as follows: “At any given time, it changes form, turning from one firetruck of artists into a giant robot made up of other artists to be the ultimate (song)fighting machine.”
Torrentz is by nature a non-profit organization and the ever increasing list of artists involved with the collective guarantee that this won’t change, and although you may think that the international divide between collaborating artists would make performing live impossible, there are plans for Torrentz to perform at Nerdapalooza 2011.
