ubiktune releases Summertunes chiptune compilation

chiptune netlabel ubiktune celebrates both their tenth release as well as the end of summer with their new compilation Summertunes. The album is a collection of amazing chiptune artists paying tribute to lost summers with some incredible renditions of upbeat and nostalgia infused songs. We have the somber opening of Marine, which leads into a jazzy upbeat look back on summer. Also possibly my favorite track on the album, Coda's Beach in the Sky which is equal parts relaxing beach town and bright sidescrolling adventure. Of course we have plenty of other amazing tracks all with their own tones, qualities, and summery feel to them.

For those who enjoyed spending summer vacations outside playing in the sun and water just as much as spending entire summer days inside trying to reach the end of Chrono Trigger or Sonic the Hedgehog, this album is definitely for you.

Vincenzo - Chip Drops album release

The third and newest release coming to us from the recently redesigned DiscoNinjaz brings us some amazing lo-fi jazz stylings with Hungarian artist Vincenzo. His new album Chip Drops (free download here) is six songs and 13 minutes of catchy, smooth chiptunes, thumping drum samples, and rocking guitar riffs.

Pay attention to my particular favorite tracks. Tuesday 44 sounds like it could be the soundtrack to the funkiest SNES game ever made, while Menthol Excess brings a guitar riff in to set the stage for a fast upbeat track that brings in some nice piano bits and thumping bass to round out the track.

Disconinjaz has a great track record going for their releases so far, and I look forward to them keeping it up! Also have to mention, look at that awesome artwork for this album, it's amazing!
