WomenGamers.com interviews women from OCRemix

Recently the people over at WomenGamers.com took the time to interview three of the female musicians of the OCReMix world. The article talks to three amazing and talented musicians, including Jillian Goldin, Nicole Adams, and Elaine Li of Florida based group Select Start. They cover topics including women in gaming, women in music, the validity of game music and where VGM is heading in the future. They all provide interesting and thoughtful answers on the questions and it makes for a really in depth read for those who want to learn more about these amazing and talented people. You can read the article through this link. Then be sure to check out their music on OCReMix.org, Jillian Goldin at her official site jilliangoldin.com, Elaine Li and her group can also be found at selectstartband.com, and Nicole Adams on her myspace page at myspace.com/nicoleadams84.

I am also quite proud of the fact that both Elaine Li and Nicole Adams appeared on our album Welcome to World 2 with very amazing songs of course.

Jeriaska interviews Select Start at Forever Fantasy

Jeriaska, writer for Siliconera as well as creator of the wonderful Nobuooo.com website has recently finished up an interview with VG chamber music group Select Start.

The interview focuses on Select Start's love of Square music and more particluarly the Final Fantasty series. The also discuss the songs included on Welcome to World 2 and our own website here! It is quite an in depth interview, and of course an interesting read. Check out this link to read the article in it's entirety.

MAGFest VI wrap up

So MAGFest is over, and everyone who attended (which did not include me, sadly) can die happy, or more likely could go into hibernation until the build up to MAGFest VII starts heating up. Anyway, There is a ton of footage from the festival, I'm only posting a mere sampler of the smorgasbord of amazing things that went down this year. There are of course tons of stories, and anecdotes from this year that will come out in due time as people slowly recover.

One of my favorite anecdotes currently is from Paragon from theshizz forums.

Lots of great memories from this year.

Watching Hale and Pongball step out of the elevator and have such an amusingly puzzled look on their faces as this complete stranger smiles and waves at them like they're old friends.

Seeing spamtron, shouting "SPAMTRON!" and he shouts back "I LOVE YOU!" and hugs me and then asks me who I am. And then later, talking to him (or maybe more like being talked to by him).

Check out this handy thread for a ton of footage from MAGFest VI. I will probably be making another post like this one, when some more cool footage comes rolling in, so if you have some awesome MAGFest VI footage, hit up theshizz thread or send it my way!

Thanks to Kareshi from theshizz for gathering all the MAGFest media all in one place. Thanks to Sunny, Hale-Bopp and Pongball's photographs which I stole for this post. Shawn Phase for linking me to some cool footage, and all the folks who took some awesome footage and tossed it up on youtube! Here is that sampler of footage I spoke of earlier!

Pixelh8 also has a new album out called Videogames Ruined My Life. “The long awaited 14-track album, which melted two laptops in the process, took two commodore 64's, one 48k spectrum, one nes, one snes, five gameboys, several kids toys and keyboards, countless yards of wire and solder to make. Available To Listen To And Buy From My Page

Lots Of Love, Pixelh8”

There is a very interesting new site up that I wanted to mention, they are known as Plopbox. I think they explain their site better than I can. So here’s what they say about it.

“Plopbox is a kind of jukebox which plays tunes created in the 80-90 on machines like C64, Atari, Amiga, PC and others. You can browse in the archive and clicking on a tune will play it. New tunes, submitted by the users, are added everyday by our admins.

When you have your account, you can use plopbox to manage your own playlist and choose exactly the tunes you want to hear. You will have access to other playlists and can use filters on these. The applet will play the list you selected and plopbox will behave like a web radio.

We're working on more content to offer you the best oldschool experience.”

Bandit Train has a new song called Battle Field for download at his site. Tanooki Rebirth has a new song on his site to listen to. My Parent’s Favorite Music also has a Minibosses remix on their site for download called Make Sense.
