< --Previous comic | Next Comic -->

Much like last weeks comic, this one is also quite appropriate, since last week I felt pretty hungry at least several times, and once for pizza even. There is no real segue to plug this but I will anyway. WEST COAST WIGOUT 2. If you are in Los Angeles around E3 time then check out the show info through this link. If you missed the news last week, like our name, we have hit four years of VG inspired music news. We continue that tradition today, as we have got some news, some video, and some sweet new tunes for you.

Week in Video Game Inspired Music 1/25 – 1/31

Another productive week comes to an end. Not to mention a ton of great albums discussed this week like The Smash Brothers and little-scale (who also happened to win artist of the year over at TCTD). Up above we have some amazing piece 'Super Smash Bros Brawl' by speedking, who you may remember as the artist for Temp Sound Solutions' Now Your Playing With Powar 7. So be sure to check out some more of his great VG inspired work as well! Now the news!

VIDEO This weeks video is courtesy of iPhone developer Tag Games who recently announced their newest app, B-Boy Beats. This game will feature a list of nerdcore artists the likes of MC Frontalot, Optimus Rhyme, Id Obelus, Ultraklystron, Rai and Magitek. You can read a preview of the game via iPhone Reviews and it seems the game will be released sometime in February. Check out the trailer below featuring one of my favorite songs by the experimental nerdcore hip hop groups Magitek.

Week in Video Game Inspired Music 1/11 - 1/17

I am finally back with the first This Week in VGIM of the new year, and decade, and millenium (depending on where you start counting). Up above we have some incredible artwork by zgul-osr1113 and goes by the name Like Jazz Zora band Indigogos. This piece definitely has video game music written...ahem...drawn all over it! Well in site related news I have to reiterate that we have our second release. This time it's some ambient space tunes courtesy of Doug Leinen and his new album Songs to Sing in Space (download here). I have been away for a bit due to unforeseen circumstances that were mentioned before, so there is a huge list of remixes this time around. Now let's get down to the nitty gritty of the news.

VIDEO Video this week is pretty crazy, but hard not to enjoy, and comes our way via Nobuooo and Tiny Cartridge. The song is “Star Soldier - Soul of the 16 Shot” by Takahashi Meijin and IOSYS and Tiny Cartridge has this to say about it, "This wondrous music video comes from Takahashi Meijin Legend: Soul of the 16-Shot, an upcoming album remixing songs from classic Hudson titles like Lode Runner, Challenger, and Milon’s Secret Castle."

It definitely sounds like this should be one catchy, album of some of the more overlooked classic themes of the NES era. Enjoy, and don't get your mind blown too much.

20 Years of Metroid

It’s now the 20th anniversary of a game known as Metroid. Metroid made it’s debut on the NES oh so long ago. So get your friends together and reminisce about all the great times you’ve had with Samus Aran over the years. Remember how difficult Metroid was. How amazed you felt during the final boss fight with Mother Brain in Super Metroid. How about waiting and waiting for the Metroid 64 that never arrived?
While remembering all those great Metroid memories, from the original to the anticipation of playing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and using Zero Suit Samus in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, why not listen to some great Metroid remixes that can be found all over this wonderful internet?
Check out all the remixes over at OverClocked ReMix including Metroid, Metroid 2: Return of Samus, Metroid 3: Super Metroid, and Metroid Prime. They also have their Relics of the Chozo project site up still, for anyone who can listen to ogg vorbis formatted music or anyone that uses torrent programs to download. Also many bands have their covers and remixes. You can hear these songs on the bands pages. Bands include

The Advantage (and here)
Ailsean
Armcannon
Brian Davis
